The ZV6000 from HP is on the lower end of their pavilion line. It comes with an AMD 3200+ 64-bit processor running at 2.0 gigahertz. The onboard ram that it came with was a weird number, 786 Megs. Most computers nowadays come with 512, 1024, 2048 megabytes of RAM. Thou, I wouldn’t shy away from it just because it has a weird ram number.
The video card is an ATI Xpress 200m, which comes with 128 megabytes of Ram onboard. I love it when video cards in laptops come with its own Ram. A lot of laptops come with shared Ram and this causes your system to have less ram than it comes with. It comes with a 15.4”screen which is pretty good considering that it doesn’t come with BrightView as a base. If you have the extra cash, I would suggest getting the BrightView option, you will love it.
The hard drive is only 40 gigabytes but that is great if you only need it for the internet, word processing, light gaming, or a small collection of music. It comes with a DVD burner so you can watch movies, or even make your own. Speaking of using the internet, the computer only comes with a 10/100 network port and 56k modem port, no Wifi! This can be fixed by buying an 802.11g/n USB card at your local store or internet site for a low price. It also comes with a 6 in 1 memory card reader, firewire port, 4 USB 2.0 ports, PCMCIA, Express 54 slot, S-video out, VGA out, and your standard audio input/outputs. The design of the laptop is pretty cute and stylish. I love a keyboard that I can use, and this laptop has that. There is also a scroll button to help with using websites, but it has an issue. When you are typing, it randomly will scroll round since its right below your right hand. HP has fixed this with a software button to turn it off, so I suggest that you turn it off.
The weight is pretty good considering that it is a desktop replacement model. Most of the weight is due to its huge, 12 cell battery. This battery will give you a pretty good run for your money at 3-3.5 hours. I would recommend the ZV6000 to anyone that needs a good machine that can do the same thing a desktop can.

HP Pavilion ZV6000 Notebook Computer
The ZV6000 is a reasonable priced alternative for those looking for solid performance and value. The ZV6000 offers an AMD 64 processor with 512kb of ram that in combination deliver plenty of processing power to surf the web or run a multitude of programs.

In fact we were able to download movies, listen to music and run our photo editing software without a glitch. We love the 15.4 inch wide screen that is only available in standard contrast rather then HP's Brightview technology, but our testers hardly noticed a difference utilizing our applications. The ZV6000 comes loaded with Windows XP Pro, a 40 gig hard drive, and 8x DVD RW drive.
In terms of ergonomics we found the keyboard to be well positioned and easy to type on without wrist fatigue. As an additional comfort our testers opted for an external mouse, but if space is a consideration the touchpad is more then sufficient. The ZV6000 laptop computer has a durable case fashioned in grey high density plastic and at just over 6lbs makes for easy transport to your favorite local coffee shop. Additionally, you will find USB ports, PCMCIA, and Express54 slots along the side of the laptop for additional convenience. The battery life on the ZV6000 is approximately 3 to 4 hours depending on if the DVD player is in use.
We found our 12cell battery to have plenty of reserve power and charged quickly when the laptop was docked. Over all we felt the quality of the ZV6000 to exceed expectations with so many features packed in to a relatively small and portable package.
The only fault we could find were the on board speakers which delivers less then impressive sound, but if you choose, the external speaker jack can easily power desktop speakers. For the price you will be hard pressed to find a better notebook computer then the HP Pavilion ZV6000.
